Guys - Flatline Racing had a problem with submission of the hot lap for this week's race. I am seeking a favour from some of you to try and identify what the problem is. I have attached the hot lap submitted and my own lap and would be grateful if some of you guys could download them and view them on your computers to see if they work. Jimmi has advised that the file submitted shows 'Mod not installed'.

Many thanks,

Mark & Mike

Mark i've taken this screendump with info regarding Michael's replay.
Capture.PNG
I have no idea how version numbers work in rF2 and when we ran version 1.08 of our mod, but the current version is 1.32 (per today)

Perhaps the MOD team can tell us when the league used version 1.08.

I can't explain how you were able to get on the server if your mod was a different version than on the server.

Perhaps this is one for the bug forum at ISI?

EDIT: looking at the image it seems that the mod version number is attached to the modname so now i'm confused.

Our components (rfcmp files) are at 1.32 but I have no idea what Jimmi used for a version number on the vmod (rfmod file). I think I deleted the vmod that was used for Q but I may have a copy somewhere else. If I can dig up the vmod and components used for Q I will see if I can open this replay.

Edit: Yes Jimmi was including the version number in the actual modname. Going forward I think he is going back to using the same name for all our mods ("VEC") and simply incrementing the version number for each release.

It has been adviced to uninstall all previous versions whenever a new version is being released. I don't think that anyone could foresee this, but now we all have another reason to do so.

Looks to me like the game saves the hotlap for the car make and number, but disregards different versions of the MOD and picks the first of many duplicates which will show up of trying to race offline, especially using "all cars and tracks" - this was just a debug rant, doesn't solve your current problem.

I can't locate a copy of the vmod that was used in Q. But looking at a bunch of replays on my machine they all show up as version 1.08. That must be the version number of the replay format? No clue... hahaha. It looks like "Series" in the replay fridge is <MODNAME>_<VERSIOINNUM>. Jimmi named the mod VEC_S7_251114 and he used the version number 1.32 to match the component version numbers I guess. So Jan, as long as you still have the vmod from Q installed I would think it would let you open that replay. I would test on my end but I can't find the old vmod.

Going forward the mod name will always be VEC and for the version numbers we will use YY.MMDD. So for example if we released a vmod today it would be 14.1204. If we released a second vmod on the same day it would get 14.12041. So then "Series" in replay fridge would show "VEC_141204".

Newer rF2 builds removed the need for vmods. As long as you still have all the needed components (correct version numbers too) installed you can play a reply.

Using 7zip to extract Michael's replay and then using Notepad++ to open up the uncompressed replay I was able to extract these details:
Code:
Mod Name = VEC-S7-251114
Mod Version = 1.32

I wish I had all the old components and vmod to confirm all these sigs.

Noel, stewards obviously tested with same MOD as used in Q, as the new one came yesterday evening.

Guys, useful info.

Noel - does my lap work?

Tomas - I tried uninstalling previous versions, but found that I then couldn't load the newest mod! Will produce a Word doc later and perhaps someone will advise what shouldn't be there.

I can't test as I don't have the old vmod or components anymore. I'm not a steward so I have no real need to hold on to old stuff.

Right, but I am just testing your theory that old sigs from leftover components may get embedded in the replay. If someone still has the old track and the components listed above, could they verify that all those sigs match?

Sounds like this is worth sending to ISI for them to look into. Although the replay system has changed i newer builds so it may be a waste of their time. Mark, how did you guys generate these replays? Right out of rF2 as a hotlap or with Gerald's tools?

Noel - my lap was from yesterday and taken from the my replay folder. Mike's was the qual lap he submitted and this still works on my machine, but then I don't think I have had an update! Was on the server yesterday about 1600-1820. Just been on the dry server and no update was requested!!

Edit: the main server is asking for update. I will do this later on and then post a lap for someone to test.

OK, so I have updated and done some laps. Could you check if this runs ok? Am going to note all files loaded for scrutiny.

Thanks

Cheers Noel - can you advise what to uninstall [i.e. edit the doc with Y or N against the mod]???

Mark

I would suggest doing a clean install just for VEC and then only install these components:
Code:
URD_C6r_ZR1 v1.8 b393adcc1a466da7430b34c7b7b7eb300ff50e5ed84f10c7c7bd5277f294beef
URD_EGT_AM v1.8 43b9cb5998d77273968489c3b27b19b3e72e58189a304f5c8cf1866a410e8872
URD_EGT_Bayro v1.8 bda7664e3dd9ba9abbebd9e7a6f7f87eb7625ac4ad5ef8318eb59cc9742ee032
URD_EGT_Darche v1.8 8266624f7841ef8746e1119772fc75ddf7466a74269199e734051df687b42e80
URD_EGT_Ferruccio v1.8 27722e7176fad062b9e3a04f9b0383e429073899a12817d5546236185c713f48
URD_EGT_Venom v1.8 0109a6c1827aa4c45961d186a3b04002130569c2a87dc9f5bbb142f479d52759
URD_sounds v1.8 436c571381b9c1a18f7b01bf6aec4d2cab4c3dfc66ed31c864e291e9d0ad5c8d

Then join the server to pick up the VEC content. That should give you the bare bones install with only the stuff you need for the league. You can copy your Player folder from the old install to your new clean minimal install which will bring over all your setups, controller maps, GFX settings ect.

I don't know if it was the same ussue for everyone.
However will will change quite a few things over the next couple of races, new skins won't be added until after Q which will mean 1 change between race weekends... Well 2 as the track will be released as well.
Next week Michael I think we should check a hotlap from spa, just to be sure everything works for you. But not until next week.
