After nearly 2 weeks of preparation, the day of PreQ, feared day among many, but really a day that we at VELES looked forward to.
We showed great performance during qualifying scoring a time in the Premier LMP1 class.
Some new faces showed up in LMP1 and it's very positive for me to see that there is someone capable to stand up and face the music, so a lot of respect for most of the LMP1 field!
How was the race for the LMP1 then?
In the first stint someone was trailing by around 15 seconds when someone else took over the car.
Our closes rivals choose another strategy with double stinting their medium (lol) tyres and that meant we lost around 25 seconds in our first pit stop.
I'll keep it short for the readers, the rest of the race was boring and Christian and Yuri won by 2 laps.
.
In GT (Yes I spoke of myself in 3rd person now) Arne clinched a formation lap of a lifetime, this meant the race would be anything but smooth sailing..... again I'll keep it short I don't know what they did but they didn't finish, blame Miro
Oh they had another full paragraph of his own race, bit selfish. I mean let's jump to the conclusion
See the thing with Endurance racing is that, you might be the fastest best driver in the world, however if your average laptime is not good, then you're no good. Both Christian and Yuri did an amazing job at this, and I must say that I'm very impressed with the effort on a whole. After loosing the race on the formation lap the GT didn't finish, which in itself is a nice accomplishment, and definitely not something that could be done single handed, this was a team effort and a very good one. We at VELES would like to say thanks for the appetizer, and let's have a season that we'll all remember.
See you in our rear view..... for a while, not easy to spot black dots 20 seconds back. Only for our LMP1 car that is, other classes have to look in the mirrors and our drivers are very good at that. VELES management
