Rfactor 2 Join problem

Practise is one thing, what i think is the most important thing - is real conditions on raceday, right now it actually looks like its gonna rain on our race day.

Aah, a year ago Lucas posted about the greyed out rejoin button. It seems the problem is still with us. So unfortunately, it does not appear as if ISI have fixed it yet ....

I had this problem tonight too. Just keep refreshing and select the server and give it at least 10 secs before refreshing again. It will work eventually.

Strange issue, and it seems for some reason allot of people were affected by it. Everyone in our team had that issue.
Funny thing is, it only occurs on the race server. DRY and Night always worked.
My workaround was join the DRY server, leave, restart rf2 and join the race server. Only way it worked for me.
Sometimes had to repeat the progress...

:) It took one of our guys nearly an hour before he could rejoin ... Hopefully it was resolved in 930, and maybe we son't see this in subsequent builds. It is unfortunate because these sorts of issues create headaches for everyone, but I would think especially the league and admins and who have to deal with the subsequent fallout when it is, despite their best efforts, largely out of their hands.

After reviewing stuff, and rethinking why this happened.
I am pretty sure it happened due to the restart of the weekend, and this will not happen again. But yes the dedicated could use an update soon :)
I will set Warmup to 10 mins - just in case someone is almost there - which means the schedule will be changed slighty :)

I'm fairly certain that it happened because of the server reboot, which required everyone to rejoin - and 40+ drivers doing that within a couple of minutes seem to be jammed up in a bottle neck of the dedicated software.

This exact thing happened to our #2 car for round 2, when the server was also rebooted few minutes prior to the race - cost us that race, this time around it cost our #20 car the race.

Weekend restart does not require rejoin nor reload of cars, just want to point out this important difference.

This wasent a reboot - this was a restart. But whatever it was, dosent change the fact that it was unfortuant.

But in the end, we will have to do whatever it takes to give the most stable races (this havent really been an issue before, so i dont see why we cant again :)

Changing warmup to 10 minutes, means that people will have 10 minutes to get back if something goes wrong - however, this also means that i will have to make a hotkey to "TRACK IS CLOSED" :)

There was a restart of server BEFORE the weekend restart - this is where troubles began, when 40+ drivers tried to join. But no need to repeat myself I guess :)

Ahh that reboot - well that has always been done here, i dont think that it has to do of anything - but clear out all those clients who kept leaving/joing in the practise sessions.
But worth a try - if people could stop leaving and joining in practise....

Yeah, I know, I just think it would be better to do the last reboot no later than 45 min. before race start, then everyone most lightly wouldn't join at once.

Is it possible that more than one car of a team were on the server (in practice session before the race)? I know that this could lead to problems in rF1. Maybe it is the same in rF2?

All teams who qualified for the race had an assigned "group" with two garages, but the server was restarted/rebooted so it wouldn't matter what happened in the practice before that - I'm 99% sure that it's a software bottleneck issue.

If the issue is really caused by all drivers joining at the same time (which I doubt) why not simple do a join procedure where teams supposed to join after they have been advised via TS to do.

If 10 cars joining at the same time is possible - it could be the 4 classes. That propably adds 5 min. of race preparation - which shouldn't be an issue when you spend afterwards hours...

No, that wont do - if each team all of a sudden have 2 cars on that could be 80 cars on track, so no - 1 car per entry after server reboot (final official practise session).

It isent about the joining, as you say - yes it adds to the server load - but the cars has to join sometime.

Ask Noel about the stability of ISI's HTTPd dependant code :p
Now don't start pointing fingers at IsI either
1. They give great feedback and help to VEC
2. VEC is stretching the netcode.
Yes the dedicated was to blame for last weekend "mod not installed" but quite frankly - it is software and just like electronics - shit happens from time to time.

So quite frankly speaking, isi isent doing things to annoy users and like VEC they would like everyone to have the best experience. But software can't be good on all pc - at some point people also need to realise they will have to update CPUs which is over 5 years.. People demand too much tbh.
1. Some people want DX11 support and want eye candy
2. Some people want better performance
But then there's the few that refuse to upgrade any hardware ;)
